About Proteomics Society, India

Proteomics is taking an increasingly crucial position in Biology and BioMedical research. In India, many Institutes and groups have been using proteomics approaches in their research efforts, and we now have a critical mass of Proteomics scientists in the country. As the research efforts expand and technologies evolve, it is essential to facilitate interactions among the Proteomics community and share knowledge for this field's growth. The ‘Proteomics Society, India (PSI)’ is thus formed in 2009 to provide a forum to pursue an agenda that will meet this objective. The Society now enters the 13th year of its journey.

PSI conducts an annual meeting cum symposium along with education day every year and presents an opportunity to the scientists, researchers, and students to share their research work and discuss it among the proteomics people within India and the international proteomics scientists. The Society also arranges and supports the proteomics workshops and hands-on training courses for young faculties and Ph.D. scholars.

Every year, the PSI organizes ‘Proteomics Day’ on 18th of March to popularise the proteomics field among Indian researchers and students. It also publishes periodic newsletters to update its members about the Society's activities, meetings, scientific breakthroughs, and technical advancements in the field of Proteomics.

The PSI has more than 300 members from various national labs/Institutes, Universities, and Industries. The Society is run by its Executive Council and its council members, who are well-known scientists, professors, and prominent institutes' directors. The Executive Council and the Society members are spread across the country and form a professional network of young researchers and experienced scientists of the Proteomics field. The PSI office is housed in the premises of the CSIR - Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology, Hyderabad - 500007, and cooridates the proteomics events and activities from this office.
